Аннотация
В статье сделана попытка рассмотреть поэтическую ткань слов Клавдия, обращенных к придворным («Гамлет», I, 2, 1–39). Убедительность идеологических приемов, использованных Королем, подчеркивается вербальной и драматической иронией драматурга. По мнению автора, эта ирония дает ключ к разгадке того, кто будет антагонистом. Все это очень важно, поскольку протагонист остается безмолвен: во время всей речи Клавдия Гамлет еще не произнес ни слова.
